Pondicherry: Pristine beaches, impressions of the French Colonial Rule and dirt cheap alcohol. That is our introduction to one of India’s most beautiful Union Territories, Pondicherry. One major advantage of visiting a Union Territory in India is cheap alcohol. No Tax equals sasta alcohol. So after already having been to the Union Territories of Chandigarh and Goa, here we were in Pondicherry, now called Puducherry (For reasons mysterious mankind).

A number of heritage buildings and monuments are present around the Promenade Beach, such as the Children’s Park and Dupleix Statue, Gandhi statue, Nehru Statue, Le Café, French War Memorial, 19th Century Light House, Bharathi Park, Governors Palace, Romain Rolland Library, Legislative Assembly, Pondicherry Museum.
Puducherry is where the serenity of taste, flavor, sight, and senses lies. The earlier French Colony, Pondicherry still reflects the flavors of France in its gritty streets and mouthwatering desserts. It is also known as Pondy; however, its original name Puducherry was named after several discussions and suggestions, like- The Beach.
It is certainly worth visiting, like any place in the world. It all depends on your intelligence and curiosity. Alcohol is cheap, the streets are different. Hi, First things first: it’s very straightforward to get there.
